Stanford Magazine tells us storing data on the cloud takes a staggering million times as much energy as storing it on a hard drive. And it’s even worse - most data centres have much dirtier electricity than we do in NZ. Use a clean cloud and minimise what you store there there.
If every Climate Matters subscriber deleted, say, 100 old photos from the cloud, that‘s like saving the emissions of an Auckland-Christchurch flight! Easy!
